Two weeks ago, I found myself in the heart of Manhattan for a photography workshop that I had eagerly signed up for over a year ago. It was a much-anticipated event, and my excitement knew no bounds. The workshop promised to be an incredible experience, and it certainly didn't disappoint.

The adventure began on a Thursday morning when I hopped on a train in Poughkeepsie, bound for the bustling streets of Manhattan. Unfortunately, the journey didn't start as smoothly as I'd hoped. There was a scuffle on the train that resulted in a 45-minute delay as the police intervened to resolve the situation. Despite the rocky start, I finally arrived in the city.

Our first photo shoot took place in the iconic Central Park, and it set the tone for an amazing weekend. Meeting our instructors and fellow photography enthusiasts was a great experience, and the camaraderie was undeniable. I was in my element, capturing the beauty of the park with my camera.

After wrapping up the first shoot, I hopped on a train back to Poughkeepsie, arriving home late at 11 PM. Exhausted but exhilarated, I had to wake up at 3 AM the next day, as my wife and I drove back to Manhattan. The workshop was relentless, with numerous photo shoots lined up over the weekend. I barely had time to catch up on my much-needed sleep, but I wouldn't have had it any other way.

The pinnacle of the workshop came on the last night, as we were poised on the Manhattan Bridge. A massive pro-Palestinian protest unfolded, with a staggering 7,000 participants, causing the Brooklyn Bridge to shut down and traffic to grind to a halt on the FDR Drive. We found ourselves in the midst of this extraordinary event, which, as luck would have it, resulted in stunning photographic opportunities.

Throughout the weekend, we had been graced with impeccable weather, and the sunsets on Friday and Saturday nights were nothing short of spectacular. Being on the Manhattan Bridge during the chaos of the protest and gridlocked traffic added even more drama to the scene. The city's skyline, bathed in the golden hour and the tranquil blue hour, was a sight to behold. The shots we captured that night were nothing short of awe-inspiring.

As I looked back on those whirlwind days in Manhattan, I realized that the exhaustion I felt was a small price to pay for the incredible experiences and photographs I had gained. The workshop had not only sharpened my photography skills but had also given me a deeper appreciation for the power of photography in capturing the essence of life, even in the midst of unexpected events.
