Three or four years ago There was an event that was not well advertised. The U.S. Navy Blue Angels, The U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds, The Royal Air Force Red Arrows and two U.S. Air Force F-22's and two U.S. Air Force F-35's Took off out of Stewart ANGB in Newburgh very early in the morning joined up in formation and flew down the Hudson River, flew around the Statue of Liberty and flew back up river. I had worked nights the night before At the plant on 14th Street. I knew it was happening and talked my relief to relieve me early so i could leave work early. I left work around 4:45 a.m. and drove like a madman to The marina where our boat was moored. I jumped in the boat and got underway. The river was all fogged in but was starting to lift. I got to just under the Newburgh Beacon Bridge and looked at the fuel gauge .. Oh man banging on the empty pin. Stopped and fueled up at Newburgh yacht club and could hear all those fighter planes spooling up on the runway at Stewart. Finished fueling and headed for West Point which was the rendezvous point before they headed down river. I got there just in time to see it. The navy and the air force both made very high speed low level passes over West Point. Such an awesome sight. I stayed there until they all came back up river then headed home. I was pretty tired! I had worked all night the night before an had to go back in that night. The photographs I got were well worth it though. This is the Red Arrows,The f 22's and the F-35's when they came back up river from flying around Lady Liberty . Production and Shipping Time:
