My wife and I spend a lot of time on our boat. We take off and go in it whenever we can. Its amazing the places you can go by boat in this country. Just in New York State you could travel by boat all summer and not go to the same place twice. I took this particular shot on one of our trips up the Erie Canal. We were still on the Hudson River and stopped for lunch in Athens NY. We took a walk around the town after we ate and had walked down this little alley between two barns. I was looking to the right and my said to me "Alec look at this!" I turned and saw what she was pointing at. It was this beautiful wooden sail boat model in the window. I love to sail and have been since I was a little kid. Ice boats sail boats of all shapes and sizes. The sailing bug bit me when I was 9. My early youth was spent on Orange Lake outside of Newburgh,NY. My Aunt had an old Aqua cat catamaran sailboat and I was on the dock looking at it one day and she looked at me and said"Go ahead take it out" So I did. I did ok for a little bit but ended up against a stone wall in front of another cousins house. He was my Aunts age and he was sitting on the lawn watching me. When I got into the wall he said "having a little problem??" and climbed on the boat and took me out for the next two hours teaching me the basics of sailing. I have loved sailing ever since. So needless to say I had to snap this picture. It just brought me back to that day and does every time I look at it . Production and Shipping Time:
