New York City, a city bursting with icons, each more captivating than the last. From its grand theaters to towering skyscrapers, it's a place where every corner tells a story. One iconic marvel that's etched in my memory is the George Washington Bridge, its presence rivaling even the famed Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco. I'd always harbored a desire to capture the bridge in all its glory, and in 2014, I finally decided to embark on that photographic journey.

After crossing the bridge, there's an exit leading to the Palisades Parkway, and just a little further on, a park unfolds, offering splendid vistas of the city. Inside this park lies a foot trail that winds its way towards the cliffs, providing an up-close encounter with the majestic George Washington Bridge. However, this trail isn't well-maintained and bears an eerie ambiance.

On that particular day, my yearning for the perfect shot outweighed any unease I felt. I ventured onto the trail, navigating through overgrown vegetation and scattered litter. As I turned a bend, I stumbled upon a man who appeared utterly lost to the world, his drunken state reminiscent of the early scenes in the first Terminator movie. You know, the one who utters the famous line, "Hey, buddy, did you just see a real bright light?" This man, incoherently slurring his words, asked me for five dollars, sending shivers down my spine. I quickened my pace, but I couldn't shake the feeling of unease, constantly glancing over my shoulder.

Eventually, I reached a vantage point where I could capture the bridge in all its glory. Yet, the trees obstructed my view, and the angle was far from perfect. My determination prevailed as I scoured my surroundings for a better spot. There, I spotted a ledge on the cliffs, a place where the trees wouldn't mar my shot. Without hesitation, I descended to the narrow ledge, perched precariously.

I took the shots I had longed for, employing the technique of HDR to capture the bridge's grandeur. Little did I know that this photograph would soon take on a life of its own. I submitted it to a contest, and to my astonishment, it was chosen to be exhibited in the World Valid Hall Gallery in Barcelona, Spain, and another gallery in Ljubljana, Slovenia.

That day, as I gazed at the George Washington Bridge, I realized that sometimes, to capture life's most beautiful moments, one must navigate through the overgrown trails, face unsettling encounters, and perch on narrow ledges. In the end, the result is worth the journey.
